Building a Deck

Each deck must contain 60 cards PLUS your starting witch or wizard.

You are allowed a maximum of 4 copies of any one card. The exception to this is lesson cards, you're allowed any number of those.

First you should choose what types of lessons you are going to have in your deck. Two or three different types are about right, if you have less, you don't have much choice of spells and creatures and if you use more then it gets a bit confusing to play.
Next, you should choose a starting Witch or Wizard that best suits your cards. Some characters are universal and will suit any deck (for example, Hermione Granger - good for playing lots of lessons) others are great for specific decks, for example, Professor Minerva McGonagall provides 1 extra Transfiguration lesson.

Now you need to decide whether you want a Creature based deck or a Spell based deck as they are built differently.

Creature Based Deck

Your deck should contain:
(Approximately)

30 Lesson Cards
10-15 Creature Cards
10 Spell Cards (use 'Hagrid and the Stranger' and 'Mysterious Egg' to make sure that you can play your creatures)

Make up the rest of your deck with extra characters, items, adventures, or extra spells. What you use depends on you and how you like to play the game. I tend not to use adventures, they just don't appeal to me. You might not like using items. It's entirely up to you, it's your deck!

Spell Based Deck

Your deck should contain:
(Approximately)

30 Lesson Cards
20 Spell Cards

Once again, make up the rest of your deck with extra characters, items, adventures, or extra spells. Don't forget, your opponent's deck may have creatures so you'll need spells that either defend you from them or that do damage to the creatures.

Whatever type of deck you choose, don't just build one and leave it as it is.
